I am offering you the opportunity to get some one on one private tuition with me. I can help you resolve unfinished artwork, I can give you guidence, advice and help. For those of you who are a bit shy, working one on one is a great way for you to get the attention you need to become confident. You may also like to bring a friend! I will accept two students for Private tuition.
My hourly rate is $40 AUS an hour including materials. A miniumn of 2 hrs per student.
A day class is $160 including materials and PDFS on techniques covered during the day.

About the course
This is a 4 week online course. It is designed to get you to think about your art, to examine your thought processes and to discover why you create the type of art that you do. I will be getting you to complete a series of challenges which will test you. These challenges are about getting you to think in new ways which hopefully will inspire new growth and ideas.
You will be working with many new materials, you will be examining themes and ideas which have a personal connection and we will be using those to develop new symbology. You will be asked to keep a journal to document your thought processes for each challenge artwork and I will be giving you some questions to contemplate and to talk about. You will be critiqued on each completed artwork and you will also be collaborating on a few challenges with other course members.
We will be looking at some of my golden rules on painting which will be explained in depth. We will be learning several key elements and principles of good composition and design. We will be looking at how to use positive and negative space to create depth, layers and we will be creating art which goes beyond the boundaries of the canvas/board. We will be looking at how we can find inspiration through a few simple techniques.
We will be creating many different types of art throughout the course - recycled, abstract, gestural, figurative and assemblage (no prior knowledge or experience is necessary, just a willingness to be open to new possibilities.) We will also be examining several artists who's knowledge and wisdom has helped me tremendously.
The course will be delivered in a series of weekly videos where I will explain your challenge and demonstrate certain techniques required for that challenge. You will then have one week to complete the challenge (Note: we will be working small and there is a good reason for that which I will explain later.)
To be accepted into this course you must agree to participate in every challenge or at least attempt it. You must be active and contribute to discussions and also collaborations with other course members. You must keep your own notes and the reason for this is, I only want you to write the information which you find important to your own personal journey. You create your own rules, you're the master of your own creative journey. My role is to give you some tools which will help you to develop as an artist. My aim is not to get you to copy me but to help you develop your own individual style.
For the first course, I will only be taking the first 16 people who register. If you don't make it into the first round you can sign up for the next course.
The cost of the course is yet to be determined but I am guessing around $65 USD, but once I have finalized the material costs/postage, I can give you the price for the course. I can honestly say it will be a good investment and money well spent.
I have a very relaxed natural way of teaching, I will be expecting the very best from you and I will push you if I know you can handle it. I will be honest, direct and upfront in my views and in my critique of your work.
Once you have agreed to the above conditions and you have registered for the course, you will receive an invitation by email to join my new 'unknown' social network. This is a private social network so people who haven't registered will not be able to view the material. Once the course is completed you will leave the social network, but the videos will be available to you for the following month (although they mostly relate to the challenges so you won't really need them but they are available anyway.) But I expect during your 4 weeks that you will take notes of what is important to you. We are all adults and I won't be babysitting you on the course to make sure you have kept notes.

Mystery Package
After you have signed up and paid for the course, you will receive a package in the post which contains a selection of materials you will require to complete many of the challenges. Some of these materials will be completely new to you, but part of my aim for this course is to get you to experiment and play with new materials and ideas which I am hoping will get you moving and thinking in new directions.

I have never taken an online course before and I am a little nervous about it.
It is natural to feel a little nervous about trying something new and you certainly have to be careful when taking an online course from someone you don't really know. It is best to do some research about the course before hand, if you have any questions and if they are not answered before you begin the course, make it a point to contact the educator/artist and find out answers to what you want to know. There are many bad online teachers out there who are only really interested in your money, not your development so be careful before handing your money over. Find out information about the educator, do they really know what they are talking about? Have you seen their work, do they talk the walk or walk the talk?. Also it is very important to find out about the course, what exactly are you really getting? By preparing yourself as much as possible you will find those nerves will vanish!
What happens if I get sick or if I am unable to finish the course?
If you are sick or unable to finish the course you must let me know. I will be happy to add you to the next course and you can pick up from where you left off.
Can I move on to next weeks challenge if I have finished this weeks challenge and tasks?
No, you will be given enough work to last you a week and if you do complete the challenges early, you will get extra tasks for being such a goodie two shoes, lol.
What supplies will I need for the course?
You will need basic materials such as acrylic paint, glue (for collage work,) pencils, pens, bits of collage, coloured paper, card, scissors, small nails, screws, old drink cans, wire, bits of metal, canvas or board. I will be supplying the most important materials for the course and you will receive those in your mystery parcel.
Do I need to show you what I have created?
Yes, critique is a very important element of the course. I will only allow you to take the course if you are able to take pictures of your WIP (works in progress) or completed artworks. For those of you who don't mind videoing your process and artworks, you can do so as well. So you have the option to submit either photos or video but you MUST be able to show your work.
Are there any PDF's and videos I can download?
Due to the nature of the course as well as my particular teaching style, there are no PDF's. I will supply you with notes, articles, discussions and suggested readings. It is up to you to take the information which you feel is important to your development and write it down in your journal. My teaching method is similar in some ways to many lecturers at University. We are all adults, you are responsible for your own education. I will provide you with the information you need and it is up to you to research and develop your own areas of interest. I am an open book so use me, pick my brains while you can.

I will talk about equipment, props, lighting and special effects. To take this course you will require a scanner but most of the other materials can be gathered easily. This is a one week course with a challenge at the end. This course is great if you're not very creative but want to learn some techniques which look stunning.

You will also learn how to create layers using it, what paint and other materials work best. I will be demonstrating and showing the many possible uses of this flexible material.
