Artists who inspire me!

Michael deMeng - Assemblage Artist

Picture
The work of Michael deMeng is about transformations - the common into the sacred. His assemblages are metaphors for the evolutions of existence: from life to death to rebirth, from construction to destruction to reconstruction, an examination of a world in perpetual flux, where meaning and function are ever-changing. deMeng's work can be seen in galleries across the country, and he teaches his process in workshops worldwide. deMeng resides in Missoula, Montana. Francis Bacon

Picture
I think if i would have had the opportunity to meet Bacon in the flesh we would have either gotten on extremely well or we would have killed each other.
There is an honesty about Bacon which I rarely see in artists and in people in generally.

Jim Dine

Picture
I was first introduced to Jim Dine's work while studying art at University. It was during a drawing class that the lecture dragged out a large book of Dine's drawings, and in that instant I was hooked. For those of you who know about his work then I need not explain the pure visual poetry he creates. It is like if you could roll up life into a crumpled piece of paper, stand on it, then unravel it and iron it flat then you would encompass Dine on so many levels.

Ian Smith - Australian Artist - Painter

Picture
If there was one artist who's talent I wish I had then it would have to be Ian Smiths. Put it simply, he has the gift. His draftsmanship is amazing, his technical drawings are breath taking, his colour sense is just out of this world. I was privileged to take a couple of his workshops and it was like being with a guru. His laid back attitude, his style was just heaven.
